About

Joyous Health is the ongoing story of how one woman took her passion for natural health and not only used it to heal her own health issues, but to also inspire and teach others that they can take charge of their own health joyously, mindfully, and naturally.

Joy McCarthy is the Founder of Joyous Health, an award-winning Certified Holistic Nutritionist and best-selling author of The Joyous Cookbook, Joyous Detox and Joyous Health. A trusted nutrition expert, Joy has been featured in hundreds of publications both online and in print; and is a regular health expert on TV. Through her innate drive to inspire others, Joy has created numerous online programs and eBooks under JOYOUS U. She also co-hosts the Joyous Health Podcast with her partner in life and business, Walker.

The Challenge

Joyous Health is a holistic, nutritional and health-drive brand that aims to meet the expectations of a diverse target audience. Each type of customer is looking for a product catalogue that will respond to their demands accordingly. As a consequence, the business challenge for this project was to create a digital solution that would present a relevant catalogue of products and services in accordance with each one of Joyous Health’s target audiences.

Process and Role

Hubnest Inc. was contacted by Joyous Health to develop a new and more efficient digital experience for their customers. Both, Joyous Health and Hubnest design teams collaborated to achieved a successful result. My role within Hubnest’s creative team was as a Jr. UI designer. I had the opportunity to work closely with a multi-disciplinary group of professionals that included senior UX UI designers, project managers, marketing strategists, and developers. After our first kick off meeting, we carried out interviews with a number of individuals that might fit under the umbrella of Joyous Health’s target audience. This was a key asset in order to complete our UX research in addition to the information provided by Joyous Health’s marketing team. After obtaining this data we developed, as a team, site maps, personas, user flows, and journey maps. Along with this, we also continued following design thinking principles to set up the workflow for the development of both low and high fidelity prototypes. Simultaneously, we performed a number of A/B testings as part of the process to achieve the best results.

The Result

Together with the team at Hubnest we developed an e-commerce personalized website as a final product. This solution provided a unique experience for each one of the different type of personas that conform Joyous Health’s target audience. This design solution assured an excellent target-oriented, e-commerce experience. It provided an easy and effective way to showcase relevant products and services based on the particular interest of a specific type of potential customer.
